Itinerary

Athenian cuisine is deeply rooted in ancient Greek traditions, shaped by influences from both the Roman and Ottoman empires. Dining in Athens is an opportunity to taste history. With a culinary tradition spanning over 4,000 years, Greece offers a wealth of fresh and unique ingredients from both land and sea.

Skip the tourist traps and taste the most authentic food Athens has to offer. Sample more than 14 different traditional products and freshly prepared tastings. We’ll walk through the vibrant center of Athens, where locals shop for their daily meals.

You’ll meet our favorite local vendors, enjoy traditional breakfast treats, learn about herbs and spices, visit a dairy shop for cheese and original honey-glazed yogurt, and explore the magical world of olives. A seated lunch at one of the city’s best traditional restaurants (mageirio) is included—plus a delicious dessert.

During the tour, you’ll also visit Athens’ oldest vegetable, fish, and meat market and sample local wines and spirits.
Want to recreate what you’ve tasted? You’ll also gain insights into recipes, cooking tips, and culinary traditions passed down through generations.
